What about a mix of potting soil, compost and manure? A bit of Osmacote
doesn't hurt, either. If you add enough of the organic material, I don't
see the need for anything else. Compost is free and I always have lots on
hand. My plants seem quite happy without bonemeal, etc. I'd rather spend
the money on more plants.
