No, Val, you are not wrong.  What you say is correct.  

You must have missed the post where I corrected myself and said, "SOME herbs
are perennials."  Sorry I didn't say that in the first place.  But my error
has produced some interesing discussion, your post included.  

Yes, you are absolutely right.  Some herbs are perennial, some annual, some
biennial.  Some perennials are grown as annuals, and so forth.  I know too
well, as I have to bring my rosemary in each fall before our zone 6 winter
arrives.  On a brighter note, the annual parsley self seeds each year and
saves me the trouble of replanting.

I have learned you have to be very careful and precise in what you say to this
group.
You are a discerning bunch (as well you should be).  Thank you all for keeping
