Yes, deadhead flowers only, and then only if they don't fall
off by themselves.  After replying to the original message,
I went out to look at where I would cut them back if I were
to try doing it the other way.  I'm not sure I'd do that, as
I think you'd end up with a lot of ugly stalks in the
garden, at least until they started growing new shoots.

I'd be interested to hear from others about this.
