Just a word of caution. While Lamium may survive in dry shade, it is straggly
and does not fill in as a ground cover if it does not get enough water. I
planted some in dry shade and also some in moist, well-drained shade a few
years ago. It is lovely in the moist shaded location, but I was so unhappy
with its gangly, sparce appearance in dry shade that I have taken it out
there. I know several other people who have had the same experience. --Janis
