I agree, but I had a weird new problem with monarda this year. I live in
southwest Idaho, and we've had weird weather. Further, we're subject to a
virus called "curly top," that afflicts several different types of plants.
I noticed one stalk of my 3.5 foot monarda had odd looking leaves.
Immediately after the wide part of each leaf it pinched in to the vein, so
that those leaves appeared to be almost needlelike. The color was quite
normal. I've never seen this before and didn't like the appearance, so I
pruned off that stalk. I haven't seen any other evidence of that problem
on that or other monardas. Does anyone know what that was? Thanks,
