Here in Chicago, normally zone 5/6 but this year at least z. 7, the late
July daylilies are blooming or ready to bloom; the kiringishoma, which I
count on for color in August, will bloom this week; balloon flowers,
normally late July, are budding; roses were three weeks early; liatris
and echinops and echinacea will be 3 to 4 weeks early, along with
rudbeckia and probably sedum 'Autumn Joy.' July astilbes are in bloom,
clematis were early. Geraniums are still going and the Shastas are
about on time. The late lilies will probably be done by the end of
July. Looks like annuals will be really important here in late summer
this year! :->
I've put in cleome, cosmos, salvia farinacea, & others and will add a
few more things soon. What are some of you planning to add in case of a
flowerless late summer/fall? Oh, yes, the asters look to be early as
well.
