MORE NEWBIE QUESTIONS

Hi everyone,

Just planted 3 butterfly bushes last week. They appear to be doing
great, blooming, no wilt, etc from the transplanting. My question is,
should I stake or prop up the lower branches that are almost touching
the ground? The plants are small (gallon size) and I'd hate to loose
them to breakage (have dogs) or other accidents.

Next question: I bought 3 cardinal flowers and a red astible at the same
time I got the butterfly bushes. From what I understand, these guys
like damp feet all? of the time. Do I need to do anything to the clay
soil they will be planted in? I have lily of the valley in the same bed
and they are thriving in the soil. The bed is right by the downspout so
it will get flooded when we have heavy rains. The lilies don't mind,
but will the new plants be ok in this situation?

I have become addicted to the flower beds. Got the tansy planted (its a
fern leaf tansy, I don't think it is as invasive as the other). Along
with the tansy, planted a Sedum Autumn Joy, Russian Sage, a yellow
Yarrow and a red Yarrow. To fill the bed in, I planted red dwarf salvia
and blue ageratum (sp) until the baby pernnials grow up. Will the fern
leaf tansy come back next year??

My coneflowers, gayfeathers and shasta daisies are all blooming now.
The hosta have all flowered. Question: After the Hosta finish
blooming, should I deadhead?

Sorry this is so long, I just really get excited when I talk about my
flowers.
