Re: Begonia grandis

Hello
Begonia is definitely a keeper. I have had mine for some years now and
liked it enough to use it in a second spot in the garden. Original location
is on a sharp embankment beneath a Viburnum. It has now gone through a few
Zone 5 winters although we are zoned 6 here. Think the trick to
overwintering is light mulch and well drained.
Second location is also well drained and I have located it with gentians
and their blue blooms to go with the red leaves on the Begonia. If you can
locate the Begonia up somewhere so you will be able to see the underside of
the leaves. Top of a path going up a hill, upper level of a rock wall or
raised bed. Great shade plant.
