Oriental poppies

Hello Susan,
Garden Glory (sorry, my mistake) is deep salmon pink with an almost orangey
tint with very frilly edges, semi double, approx 15 petals and the flowers
are approx 10" across. The buds are the size of a small fist.
Sinbad is a glorious real red and will grow 4-5 feet when happy.
Marcus Perry is a very old variety and is rich scarlet orange, what I think
of as the original oriental poppy colour.
My 'Patty's Plum' is a sort of dusky purple, I think of it as crushed
blackcurrant colour and someone recently described it as a sophisticated
Victorian colour! Sounds posh but seems quite appropriate.
Have you come across 'Karine'? it is the most edible satin pink colour. I
could go on and on.
I'm in the terrible position of being assistant manager of a large retail
nursery in Cornwall and am almost unable to resist indulging my love of
perennials when buying in new stock. Perennials are enjoying a huge revival
over here and I'm quite happy to do my little bit to encourage it. This
makes me very interested to hear about any disappointments that you have
when making your purchases. I know that I hate to get poor quality plants so
I know just how you feel. And I Iove hearing about all your US gardens. It
makes you realise that gardening really does cross all barriers.
I'm now going out to make the most of this glorious evening. Enjoy yours.
Tracy Wilson. Cornwall.
