Hi -
Well, I went out last night with a flashlight to see if I could
find anyone munching on my plants and found a large black ant wrestling
with what I took to be an earwig just inches from my Buddleia. So maybe
it is earwigs that are making the holes - for now I'll let them be since
the plant seems to be doing just fine - I had been concerned that
whatever it was would actually do more than just some minor cosmetic
damage (and I was curious!)
I haven't seen a single grasshopper or Japanese beetle (although
I'm sure they're both out there) and I didn't really think it could be
slug damage. Speaking of slugs - last year they started mucnhing on one
of my nice Hostas but this year they've left them alone - so far (knock
on wood - or should I say knock on herbaceous material?)
