Re: What's eating my Buddleia?

This is the season for holey leaves; I have something chewing up a honeysuckle
vine and the roses and I think it is earwigs that feed at night. I never see the
culprits during the day on the plants. And the earwigs are definitely back in
the thousands this summer after two relatively mild winters. How they get in the
bathroom is a mystery - but one must shake out the towels before drying off!

I have tried the crumpled newspaper method of catching them (you put the
crumpled up newspaper where they've been eating, then the next morning drop the
newspaper in a bucket of water), but this seems to have little effect on their
numbers.

I have heard that Diazinon is effective, but I don't want to use poison.
Diatomaceous earth as for snails also, but has to be applied after every rain.
Do earwigs drink beer? Maybe I'll try beer traps.
