I planted this last year and it has more than exceeded my expections. For
the last few weeks it has been the most spectacular thing in the garden--a
huge mass of bright blue flowers.
The problem is the "huge mass" part. Had I know that it would be that big
and that it would flop, I would have put it in a peony cage. As it is, my
Johnson's Blue is covering up an aster, thyme, a small rose bush that I
just planted this year, and 2 lupins.
I noticed earlier this week that it is growing new shoots from the centre.
How much harm would I do it I cut back most of the original growth to the
base of the plant? I'd really like to give the neighbour plants some light.
What do you think?
