Kris--
Can't remember where I got my 'Claridge Druce' geranium, but they are offered
in the Wayside Catalog, 1-800-845-1124, www.waysidegardens.com
In my last post I called it G. endressii, because that is what the tags on my
plants say. However, I found it listed in the catalog as G. oxonianum
'Claridge Druce'. Upon checking Steven Still's manual, I found that is
correct. It is, indeed, G. oxonianum, which is a cross between G. endressii
and G. versicolor.
Now that I have the taxonomy straight, you asked about moisture. Both the
Baptisia and the Geranium prefer well-drained soil with average moisture, but
they are both fairly drought tolerant. I grow them in part shade (half a day
of sun in the morning).
The geranium would need more moisture if grown in full sun in a hot climate.
In any case, the Baptisia, being much taller, will provide it with some
shade. I'm near St. Louis, Missouri, heat zone 6, the bed is clay-loam
amended with compost, and mine don't require watering. --Janis
