Milorganite's one downfall is that it does have a quite unmistakable and not
exactly aromatic odor that lasts for a while -- doesn't mix well with the
scents I want my garden to have!

Milorganite? From Milwaukee? It's regularly tested, and sold all over the
country. I don't have enough confidence to put it on my veggie garden, but
I'd put it on my lawn much more readily than I'd ever hire another lawn
care co.(I do NOT appreciate the field bindweed they brought me, nor do I
appreciate their peeing on my violas odorata). I believe it was Abby
Rockefeller who vigorously campaigned for the legitimizing and widespread
use of composting toilets. I'd trust that waste a lot sooner than I'd drink
out of the river downstream of the sewage treatment plant. Margaret L
