RE: Phlox THE KING


Marilyn, I use Armitage a lot too, although I am too cheap to buy the second 
edition. I like his book because he gardened in Montreal for a number of 
years, which is a similar climate to mine.
There are quite a number of good veronica species, and all the ones I have 
tried do very well in my garden which is on top of about 50 ft of glacially 
deposited sand and gravel. I never water because I don't have it to spare, 
so plants that like it hot and dry do well for me.

By the way, let me say that I was thinking of Phlox "Starfire" earlier, 
which is a lovely cherry red colour, not "Starlight" which I can't say I've 
ever heard of off the top of my head.
