Speaking of variations in the spelling of plant names, has anyone
else noticed that there are apparently 2 varieties of a variegated
Phlox paniculata?
I've seen both 'Darwin's Choice' and Darwin's Joyce' I'm
virtually certain that these are one in the same.

Since we have seen mentioned variegated Phlox- I hope people do not mind me
talking about a few others
I cannot help with the naming problem-since I have not heard of Darwin's
Choice'
But as a side not I a few ASTILBE that have: Darwin' in the name and wonder
if they come from the same place?
.
There are several more than two but the one I really like is 'Cream De
Menthe' which has equal amounts of white and green with white edges and green
centers. It was a good grower last year for me. Reaching a height of three
feet, the flower color is not great, being a soft pink, but any kinda flower
on a beauty like this is only going to take away from the gougous leaves and
upright shape.
Other variegated Phlox paniculata's include:
"Darwin's Joyce' -- with a creamy yellow edges and again with pink flowers,
said to be nicely mildew resistant too.
'Nora Leigh' with white edges not as white or as large edged as 'Cream De
Menthe' Flower color is more lavender pink.
'Harlequin' an older form with ivory white edges and reddish purple flowers.
Said not to be a great grower.
'Leigh' -- a nice form with large white edges with pale lilac flowers and
darker eye zone, can't comment on it's growth. Grows over three feet tall.
