caryopteris pruning

I have a Caryopteris "Blue Mist" shrub in my zone 5 garden that has done so
well that it needs some pruning.  Can anyone tell me whether it is best to
do it now, before it starts spring growth, or wait until the fall when it
has finished blooming?
