Today is my last day in my current house. I am
leaving over 300 species of plants to the new home
owner. The new owner is a young couple who would love
to learn about gardening and what I have planted. I
have spoken to the new owner and have asked him if he
knew what an annual was? Reply "no"..
perennial...reply "no"... Ok, I guess they have some
learning to do. We were all there at one time, so it
is now time to have a new gardener come into the
world.
It is sad to leave this place. I have seen it grown
over the past seven years to what it is today. I
have learned so much form this garden that will be
applied to my next garden. If you want to see my
current garden, please vistit

I am leaving a 15K plot of land to a 10K plot a land.
The new place is ugly hardpan soil and poor drainage
to boot.
I plan on documenting my new garden on the web with
photos, plans and comments. I will start from the
beginning to the final stages of planting. This
should be a fun project for all to visit and learn.
Here was the first issue of my garden... ORDERING
SOIL... I ordered 30 yards of soil of a premium winter
mix that contains 40%sand. I wanted to buy better
soil, but at 40USD a yard, I had to go to 15USD a yard
soil.
The day the soil arrived.... I directed the truck to
place each 15 yard dump in defined location. Great,
everything is going well....but wait. What soil is
this? I asked the driver what type of soil was this?
He stated and I told him this was not what I ordered
and I told him to take it back. He looked at me and
stated he made a mistake.... he called his boss and so
did I. Guess what? The soil was free and they
brought me the correct soil the next day. Now I have
60 yards of soil now.
60 yards... man... I m not a kid anymore... I cant
just move this soil over night. Hey, I have
money,..now it's time to rent out the big toys and
move it in a day.
Till next time...
