True enough, some of the Helenium cultivars get fairly tall, but they aren't
very dense. You might try narrow leafed sunflowers which are perennial and
get to be up to 10 ft tall. Of course you have to like yellow. Plume poppy
has very thick stalks and if planted at a good density will certainly form a
barrier. The little devils do spread, though.
