I bought this plant about 2 years ago based upon the catalogue description
of the wonderful berries it is reported to produce.  So far, no berries.
This plant looks fine every spring but then deteriorates thereafter.  I
can't say I even remember the flowers.
Has anyone grown this?  Can you tell me what conditions it would thrive
under?  I have it in mostly shade, moist conditions.  Thanks for any help.

The flowers are green to greenish-yellow and are about 1/4 inch wide-they are
clustered together on a panicle at the top of the plant and are in bloom in
early spring as the leaves are still unfolding.  This plant needs to be
"mature" before it blooms-many times this takes 7 years or more of growth.

How large is you plant - 15 inches tall or more tends to produce flowering
plants and then fruit.
When buying plants for fruit-make sure to buy large multi stemmed clumps.

You have it growing in a the right spot-they like shade and moisture
retentive soils. I have my large patch growing in more sun now -- because we
have lost a few trees.  The soil has become drier too but the plants are
still doing well.  The ones in the woods though were it is moist but not wet
and are shaded all year by large oak trees have grown to be good sized clumps
and produce many dark blue fruits every year.  But I figure the plants to be
20 years old.

I like this plant not so much for the berries as for the graceful form in has
in deep shade.
