Re: Hellebores question


Heather,

Graham Birkin, UK Hellebore breeder, removes the foliage from his
plants in the fall as a matter of course.  I leave mine until I get
to it in spring as I like the bits of green through the winter.

You can remove yours when you feel like it.  If it is still in good
shape, go ahead and leave it until you're sure the worst of your
winter is over because it will offer some protection to emerging buds
and foliage. 

If it's ratty, discolored and just laying flat on the ground, go
ahead and take it off.
