RE: Eranthus "Guinea Gold"

Frank,
Your Eranthis is lovely. Worth waiting for, yes?
I can almost smell your Daphne from here. My 10+ year old plant began
dying last summer after it bloomed and is still alive, but barely. It
dropped all its leaves and hasn't a flower this spring. :( I am told by our
extension agent that they are very prone to phytopthera (misspelled, I'm
sure) root rot. It had been very lush and floriferous prior to last year.
I have no choice but to pull it out and start over in another spot.
Fortunately, I have 2 nice small plants from cuttings (done 2 years ago) in
the nursery that I can use for myself. You might want to take a few
cuttings of yours right after it blooms - just for insurance.

My Eranthus Guinea Gold was in full glorious bloom Thursday. My Daphne
odora was beautiful and fragrant too.
