Oenanthe javanica hardiness?

I recently saw Oenanthe javanica 'Flamingo' (Variegated water celery)
growing in South Carolina. Not being familiar with the plant, I assumed
that it wasn't cold hardy here in East Central Illnois.

Yesterday I saw several flats of it growing at a local nursery and my
interest was piqued once again. Curious, I researched the plant when I
got home.

Unfortunately, everyone seems to list it as having different hardiness
ratings. I've seen listings from USDA 4a to USDA 7a for cold hardiness,
and now I'm really confused.

Does anyone have any experience growing this in colder regions? How well
does it perform for you?

Thanks!

Chris
