My favorite columbine of all time was a plant we had about ten years ago.
In was a seedling from a McKana giant pollinated by a deep blue fully double
spurless plant that grew 15 inches tall.
The plant from this cross had dark blue flowers 6 inches wide and grew 3-4
feet tall.
If you collect 1,000,000 people together and showed them a picture I would be
a millionaire for every one that said it was a flower from a clematis.
The flowers had no spurs and no folded over petals it was just a large cup
with 6 tepals and a small column of stamens in the middle.
If ever a columbine deserved to be tissue cultured- this one did.
