Lani,
Another avenue you might try is calling your county extension office. I
know ours here offers Master Gardener courses and has tons of
information concerning gardening, including the do's and don'ts of
pruning. Our office here has an expert on pruning, and occasionally
will send the expert out to your location to offer advice.
I agree that to avoid damage, doing the research is paramount!!
