Please note: the PeeGee Hydrangea is actually Hydrangea paniculata
'Grandiflora', (or a specific cultivar?). As I mentioned in my last post on
this subject -- See Pruning Annabelle--- the paniculate and arborescent types
of Hydrangea bloom on new wood, and respond well to spring or late fall
pruning.
"Mop-Head" Hydrangeas bloom on new wood, and if pruning is desired (other
than cutting out dead, diseased or really old stems), it should be done after
the plant blooms.
