Ok you guys (gender neutral) All this talk of daylight saving and still
no-one has got the point. Some of you may have seen this before....
"Here we go again, just as we get used to taking the dog for an early
morning walk in the sunshine, just as the perennials are blooming
furiously, just as visits to the beach threaten to win the battle with
keeping the beans clean what happens? You northerners go and
start pinching our daylight again. Same story, every year about this
time you guys (gender neutral) get fed up with being shut inside
watching the outside freeze and allow your dreams of summer to
take control.
Things are going just a bit too far. Several years ago our country
was forced to adopt daylight saving in response to your outrageous
actions. Well this selfish action of yours has reaped a benefit for us.
We are becoming quite practised at the art (science) of daylight
saving now and have managed to save an enormous amount of it
this year already. We are now in a position to offer our surplus
daylight (and everyone knows of the great quality of NZ daylight) to
selected clients in your more northern regions who, round about
now are driving themselves mad wishing spring would arrive just a
little early.
I have studied the pattern of your daylight pilfering and know that
each year it takes you a little time to get into the full swing of
things so reckon we have a good couple of months in which to
conduct some really profitable trade.
The daylight we offer comes in three categories:
1) Farm daylight. This is the lowest grade and is sufficient to allow
farmers to see well enough to work their paddocks (fields) at night
but don't expect sunburn!
2) Gardeners daylight. Much brighter and warmer. This is just the
sort of stuff to hasten the onset of spring. Using this will enable some
folk to have roses flowering before the neighbours crocuses are up!
3) City folks daylight. This is by far the strongest and can
penetrate concrete walls and the darkest of sun glasses. Suitable for
a grade yuppies who want a *real* all over tan
Prices available on application. Delivery via the Internet (at the
speed of light)"
