It's funny about some things self seeding for some people
and some not for others.  I remember there was some
discussion on this list last summer about foxgloves not self
seeding in some people's gardens, but being an absolute
menace in others (mine included).  I have had the same
problems with Cosmos.  For the last two summers I've grown
this annual and visitors have told me both summers that once
I've got that in the garden, I'll never get rid of it, but
it's never come back for me.
