Re: Need vine advice

Linda, while you're waiting for whatever woody vine you choose to
make some growth, plant some Hyacinth bean vine (Lablab). It's an
annual. Has lovely purple tinged and veined foliage, pretty
lavender-pink pea type flowers and incredible magenta pods. Planting
time is now - wants it warm to germinate, which it does just like a
regular garden variety bean. Is a twining vine; needs string or
something it can twine around to climb. Lovely vine IMO. Have pix
of it in one of my vine series articles, if you don't know it. I
would also highly recommend Lonicera sempervirens - very well-behaved
member of the honeysuckle family with lovely red-orange trumpet
flowers - big show right about now with re-occurring bloom throughout
the season and most interesting perfoliate leaves...also have pix of
a c.v. of this child in that series. Series can be found in my index
under shrubs, trees and vines section - URL in my SIG...don't have
time to go look up URLs right now...sorry.
