Actually, I also add formalin to the dip for nematode protection. I may try
plain household bleach this year if I can't get any formalin. The main
alternative would be no treatment at all. But when you store 8000 bulbs out
of the ground for 3-4 months I don't like the risk. One year we did no
treatment at all and lost about 1/4th of them.
