Re: Lysimachia atropurpurea 'Beaujolais'

Lysiachia atropurpurea 'Beaujolais' is a seed selection, you already know
that, that has dark purple-redish flowers and light blue-green foliage and is
said to grow 15-18 inches tall.  Seed gerination is slow and spread out over
any onths up till a year.  Using cool temps seems to help.
I have not determined if this is a true species or some type of hybrid or if
it should go under a different name-with at least 160 different species we
are only seeing a small number of them in cultivation.

If you bought a Lysiachia atropurpurea -- my guess is that it might be the
same as the "beaujolais" because this name is tacked on the end more as a
descriptive term than as a formal type name. its some type of Frenche place
name I think. The plants come from central Europe. Might also be a shorter
growing form with darker flowers-Sorry to be so un-definitive.
