weeks ahead

It seems as though everything here in the Midwest is about two weeks
ahead of the more usual spring. My tree peonies (one of my favorite
plants), for example, were just lovely this year, but they are already
finished. The pasque flowers (Pulsatilla) are also fading rapidly. The
daffodils seemed to go pretty fast too, even though it was cool, then quite
hot, then a frost that got the tender annuals I too eagerly had put in
containers. Now the weather is paradise ... high 70s, sunny, 50s at night.
Already I have some Siberian iris starting to bloom, which I
associate with the first week of June usually, and the herbaceous peonies
are starting to open. Lilacs are all done, of course, as are most of the
flowering fruit trees in town.
So, I'm wondering, is everything just going faster because I'm
middle-aged or are bloom schedules ahead this year for other younger
Midwesterners?
