Thanks to all of you for your good advice, and I want to say that I
*especially* appreciate your being available for me. When this happened,
it was too late to call friends on the telephone, but I was able to sit
down at the pc, type it all out, and reach all of you by E-mail. Let me
tell you, it helps a lot to alleviate stress. My husband has been too
busy to vent to his friends at work, so the poor man hasn't slept well
in three nights because of this problem worrying him.
I just learned that the gardener has a machine that injects
fertilizer deep into the soil where the roots are. It's not a miracle
cure, but it may help the privets fill in a little sooner.
