Dear Kris,

Nothing kills creeping Charlie permanently. It is present on every
continent. If you successfully rid yourself of it, it will return in the
compost, in a gift, under the neighbor's fence, somehow. Console yourself
knowing that it is easy to pull up and can be yanked out of the gardens while
routinely weeding.

The lawn situation is different. You would have to use (and use again and
again) a broad leaf weed killer formulated for grass. We don't treat our
grass for anything, don't fertilize it either. Living in the country with
too much grass needing cutting, it is my viewpoint that it grows no matter
what we do. A suburban or city lawn may require different thinking.
Whatever you treat for you don't get permanent results unless all of your
neighbors do the same thing.
