Cheryl,
I have both of these:
Lysimachia clethroides - gooseneck loosestrife
Lysimachia punctata - yellow loosestrife
They are both so aggressive: they are nearly their only competition.
Even the artemesia couldn't keep up. Only the species goldenrod does.
I actually like them, the gooseneck has great orange/red fall color in
addition to its flower. The yellow loosestrife adds an architectural
element and a long bloom time.
I just wish I had a good way to keep them in bounds. They overrun the
peony bed. I've considered sinking plastic pots and planting in those
but in order to have as much of both as I would like, it would take a lot
of pots! Any better ideas anyone?
