Walt, I have a Jack Russell, and while he loves to dig, as long as
you've done the obedience training which is de rigueur for this breed,
and as long as you wouldn't be leaving the dog/s outside alone for long
periods of time, they won't dig up your plants. Mine knows enough even
not to chase his ball if it goes into the garden area.
