clematis questions

I've been saving the information about the Viticella Clematis whenever they
were discussed, and was pleased when the names of the two mail order sources
were listed. I've just ordered four of them: Polish Spirit, Venosa
Violacea, Etoile Violette and Betty Corning. I know, I know -- they are all
variations of purple. But, I selected them mainly by how floriferous
everyone said they were (and I like purple!), even in the shade. My question
now -- just how much shade can each one take and still put on a good show
of flowers?
My next question -- if I find I need a lighter, contrasting color to act as
a foil for the purple in the shade, which ones would you recommend to pair
with each one? They'd have to have similar bloom time/bloom length.
(Susan, I'd love to also see the pictures of the combinations you mentioned
you'd email privately to Alyce.)
Thanks for your help!
