Marge,  this sandy soil I now garden in is different than the rest of the
soil around here in WV--clay--and different from any other I had ever
gardened in in 40 years of gardening.  It forced me to learn an entirely
different palette of plants as I searched for drought resistant plants.  I
am pleased to say  my dryland western Agastaches came through the coldest,
wettest winter we have had here in years, thanks in no small part, I'm sure,
to that sandy soil.
