Clematic recta question

I have two healthy c. heracleifolia that have done very well. This will
be their third year. So this year I ordered c. 'Recta'.  Has anyone had
any experience with this one. Do I treat it like any other herbasceous
perennial? Is it floppy? I find c. herc. needs some support to keep from
flopping over. The bed it will be in recieves afternoon shade, high and
light.
