Personally, I think storing them in a box is fine. Someone gave me a
bunch of rhizomes in a plastic trash bag...probably fall of '96?
Anyway, I got busy and forgot about them. My husband was cleaning out
the garage last fall and asked "what in the @%$&!" was in the trash bag.
Some of them were wasted away, but I planted 15 or so that still
resembled iris roots. They're blooming now.
