Alfalfa

I just purchased a 50 lb bag of alfalfa pellets. According to past threads,
it is used for roses and irises with a mix of epson salts (aluminum
sulfate?). The question is should I use it on anything else - vegetables,
perennials, shrubs?
Also, once I have this odiferous infusion made - should I pour a bucket
around each plant or should I spray it?
