Carolann,
The plant sends out runners with roots on them over the ground, sort of
like an ivy. You can dig up a section, cut it from the other runners and
plant it. As long as it's watered often and has sun for part of the day, it
should transplant with no problem. When it's getting ready to flower, it
sends up shoots from the center of a leaf cluster. The shoots are covered
with small lavender flowers. Some folks don't like the blooms much. They
are not very showy and sometimes they flop over. I leave mine, but I'm sure
you can cut them off if you don't like them. Good luck with your new
charges.
