Re: Stachys lanata/Lambs Ear

Just as Rika uses Lambs Ear to edge her circular herb garden, I use it
to edge my perennial beds. I like to keep it trimmed low, so I cut off
the flower spikes because I find that they look weedy and block the view
of some of my smaller front-of-the-border plants. Val was wondering how
to keep it from looking ratty, and I have found it can take any form of
abuse. Once, my husband mowed my stachys lanata by accident (or so he
says, you can't always be sure) and it grew back wonderfully with small
clusters of those velvety silvery leaves. So now, when it looks tired, I
mow it back to keep it looking fresh.
