Never remember a spring quite like this one. Temperature today was
approaching 30 C. with high humidity....more like mid-July than May 19th.
Most of my perennials and flowering shrubs are a good month ahead of
schedule here in the Parry Sound area. My PJM rhododendron is covered with
spent flower heads and needs a good deadheading. Rhod. Nova Zembla just
came into bloom this morning for the very first time....large red flowers.
Daphne cnerum (sp) is just finishing up and my hibiscus syriacus is leafing
out.
As far as my perennials go, my collection of primulas are finishing up,
making way for my geraniums. G. sanguineum are in full bloom as are G.
pyrennicum. G. pratense are still a week or two away, as is G. psilostemon.
Dictamnus album has taken four years to finally settle in, and is starting
to come into bloom. Hoping that it was worth the wait.
Loving the magnificent weather and lake of black flies and mosquitoes, but
hoping my gardens aren't all spent out before the end of June.
