Re: Wintering over in Pots

Carol,

Daylilies will take a lot of abuse. I have a couple of Stella de Oro's in
my garden (Pacific Northwest, zone 8). They were one clump when I bought
it and then broke in half and planted last year. They grew well and
bloomed. Over the winter the foliage died to the ground( and they have
come back even bigger this year. They have bloom stalks coming up all over
them and should quite a show this year. Once established, they can
withstand some drought, but love to be watered.

Don't worry, your plants should bloom this year. I would water them
sometimes over the winter when they are in garage. Cutting the foliage off
doesn't affect their bloom for the year.

That's my experience in this second year of growing a few daylilies in my
garden.
