Not to nitpick or anything, but, Zone 6a is defined as minimum temperatures in
the -10 to -5 F range, with *occasional* years dipping below that range. Your
description would put your Cincinnati area in Zone 4b.

I do remember those *occasional* events. Especially memorable is the one
several years ago (Spring, '94??) which resulted in yards full of 9 inch tall
shrubs - nine inches, because that's where the snow line happened to fall. Snow
is a good heat insulator. But I remember those years as oddities, *not* the
norm. I'm a half zone colder than you are, and I *don't* *want* to be in Zone
4a (...with full respect for those living in Zone 4a and ccccolder
cccconditions.)
