This is only my second year of growing perennials, so I know very little of
what to do. I know that with annuals, things like sweet peas and petunias,
you deadhead in order to encourage more flowers. But what about
perennials? If I deadhead plants that I don't want to reseed, will it
encourage more flowers, or is there a limited number of flowers in each
plant each year and no amount of deadheading will mean more? At the
moment, I've got flowering in the garden Aquilegias, Knautia Macedonica,
Osteospurmum, various Geraniums, the Achillea summer pastels is about to
come out, also the Campanula Persicifolia and the Linaria. Would it
benefit any of these to deadhead them, or are any of them shortlived plants
that should be encouraged to seed so that I get plants next year? Thanks
for your help.
