Jeanne,
It is a pain to wait, but I've always been afraid to pull out the daff's
foliage before it is actually reclining. I have 'rolled' the green leaves
into a small roll and left. Never really used rubber bands before, as
someone was talking about earlier. It usually takes a few days of
're-rolling' for them to kind of clump together, but my daff's green leaves
are 'rolled' now, and just about ready to pull up. Maybe one more week. I
do have some panzies planted nearby, to sort of hide the green leaves.
I've done this for the third year now, and my daff's increase in size and
bloom each year.
I haven't figured out when I should dig up and divide.
Do I do this after they bloom in the spring and the foliage is turning the
yellow/brown? Or mark and get rid of the foliage, and dig up in the fall, and
replant in the spring? Some how, I know this is wrong. I always plant a few
more daff's somewhere in the fall, but when should I dig up and divide the
batches that have bloomed?
Wanda
