Re: Book recommendation

I just finished reading Orchid Fever by Eric Hansen and I recommend the book 
to all of you.  While it is not about perennials that most of us can grow in 
our gardens, it is a fascinating look at one family of plants, its 
collectors, hybridizers, regulators, plant societies, and fascinating 
personalities.  There's a lot of information about collecting in the wild and 
the CITES often-misguided regulation of such.  I know nothing about orchids 
and have little interest in them.  But the book is a compelling read.
