RE: annuals

"Both sell flowers, mostly annuals, grown in rows in
fields for a customer to choose and cut himself. On your way home any
summer
day, you can bring home with you large amounts of cut flowers not sold at
florist shops."

No kidding! There's an idea that never crossed my mind. We have several
'pick your own strawberries' farms in the area, and the same for blueberries
when we lived in S. Illinois. It would be wonderful to have access to fresh
flowers when some special occasion came up - DIY is certainly big business
these days.
I hope I don't get accused of putting florists out of business - but
sometimes the prices are steep.
